CARE AND WARRANTY
Who We Are
Your new landscape border has just been installed today it is an attractive durable product that will last for years. Please follow the guidelines below for the next few days.
The concrete curb should be lightly sprayed with water especially if it is too hot to avoid any unnecessary cracking. Wait at least 4 hours and then spray it with a fine mist. Do not apply nozzle or thumb pressure to your water hose it may damage the curb. Repeat misting 1 or 2 times for the 30 days as the curb is curing.
Keep pets, children and objects away from the curb for at least 24 hours. It will be “hard” to the touch at this point but, still needs 30 days to fully cure.
Sod laying, sprinkler work and landscape work can be started 48 hours after installation however, CAUTION must be taken as shovels, picks and wheelbarrows can damage the curb for the 30 days curing time.
If you have a landscape contractor working for you, caution them about protecting the curb from damage. Never allow a tracker or truck run over the curb.
If it begins to rain within 6 hours after we leave the job, try to cover the curb with plastic. Make sure sprinkler systems do not come on for at least 48 hours. Irrigation, backwash from pools, condensate lines or rain can damage the curb during the first 24 hours.
Efflorescence (white powder substance) can appear on occasion and does not look good curbing. It is generated from water sprinkling systems and can also appear after a rain storm. The intensity of efflorescence varies depending upon the type (hardness) of water and the volume of water that gets on the curb. Check your sprinkler heads while the system is on and try to adjust them to minimize the amount of water spraying directly on the curb. If you have just planted sod and are watering frequently, efflorescence may appear more readily. Be patient, wait for the lawn to get more established, turn water off for a few days, then clean the curb after it dries. A solution of 50/50 vinegar and water with a light brushing will remove the efflorescence. You may have to do this a few times; eventually, the efflorescence should go away.
Once in a while curbing with colour in it may look “splotchy” for a while as it is curing. This will go away as it cures and is not to be confused with efflorescence.
If curbing is damaged we will come back and make necessary repairs; however there is a $650 minimum charge for this service.
Cracking – concrete curbing like any other type of concrete can and will crack. We experience very little cracking in our products; however, if it should crack we will replace it at no charge during the warranty period. A warning however it is important to note repairs can be difficult to make in a coloured concrete. It is impossible to get a perfect colour match. Sometimes “the cure is worse then the ill”. A hairline crack is much less noticeable then a patch or discolouration in the curbing.
When curbing is installed as a retrofit (grass already in place) there will be a small amount of concrete on the ground between the new curb and the grass. It is very difficult to remove this concrete while it is still wet. After a 24 hour curing period, it can be picked up in small pieces and thrown away. Since we have not included a return trip in the price of our curbing to do this, we ask that you take a few moments to remove the excess concrete. This will allow your grass to grow back against the curb faster. You may want to place sand or dirt in this area as well it is up to you.
Damage to sprinklers lines, telephone wires, cable TV, or other buried items by our equipment or personnel is not our responsibility.
Your curbing has a one year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. It will be replaced at no charge if the defect is caused be the materials we use or the way it was installed be our workmen.
Thank you for using our product. We know you will enjoy it for years to come. If you have any questions regarding our curbing, please call us (905) 980-1182
